What are some keyboard shortcuts for Mac?
I have a 15″ MacBook Pro with OSX 10.6.5
My question is what are some keyboard shortcuts for like Mac Office software like Word.
I’m taking notes in my Astronomy class and we’re using a bunch of scientific notations and exponent numbers.
My thing I’m asking about is if there is a keyboard short cut to make exponents look like actual exponents and not like this –> 10^4
Because we’re starting to get into some complicated numbers and exponents and I was wondering if I could somehow make them smaller.
I’m not big on computers, but I understand more than the average person so use whatever language you want (computer talk or whatever).
Any help is appreciated
The keyboard shortcuts for Mac are similar to the ones on Windows except the use Command instead of Control. So cmd-+ (command shift = ) will give you a superscript. cmd= will give you subscript. Press the same shortcut again and you’ll go back to normal.
You may also want to consider using Word’s equation editor. If you have Office 2011, you can use a syntax inspired by a typesetting language called LaTeX, which is used in many professional scientific papers. All you have to do is type 10^4 and it will automatically make the 4 superscript. Type 10_4 and it will automatically make it subscript. Type 10/4 and it will automatically turn it into a fraction. Type followed by the name of a character and it will change it to that character (for instance sigma gives you the lowercase greek letter sigma). It’s really useful once you learn what to type.
